holiday 2004 series: roy/riza

During the exam crunch last week, I came up with this crazy frickin' idea of an FMA holiday series. (Yeah, I don't know either.) The thing is, I wanted to stray from what I usually draw. So I settled on a het pairing only sort of holiday series, which works out fine since I rarely draw stuff outside of Roy/Ed and the occasional Al/Winry anyway. Practice is good, yeah? XD So that's the long exposition.

Roy/Riza sits in a rather odd middle ground for me. Intellectually, it's almost my ideal relationship, and I do acknowledge having a soft spot for it at times. Otherwise, it's taking me a while to warm up to it. And that's okay, cos... well, it's fandom. Whatever. I think that running into dominatrix!Riza/way-too-submissive!Roy - or, flipside, abusive!Roy/abused!Riza - scarred me heavily. Roy is NOT a character I like to see portrayed as abusive (whether the other character in the relationship is Ed or Riza or even Havoc is totally irrelevant), and while Riza dominating is a good gag neta, some of the stuff I ran into was in dead earnest. Cue Sakki backpedaling FAST. XD But uh. I layered the sap on really thick for this, just cos... uh... Holidays! Sap! Right. And yes, boobs. I don't know WHY I sex Riza up so much - I've got something of a proven track record for this crime, but I figure it's cos we see enough of crisp-and-professional Hawkeye in canon that sometimes, I just feel like portraying different facets that we don't really see. A lot of, anyway.
